The company explained why OnePlus 10R and OnePlus Ace lost their proprietary mode switch
The explanation is rather controversial and strange
The proprietary notification mode switch has long been one of the main features and distinguishing features of OnePlus smartphones. What is strange is that the company has recently begun to abandon this feature in its available models. Moreover, there is a chance that Oppo will deprive the “daughter” of this chip and it will appear in the smartphones of another “blood” - Realme .
This year, the departure from the “ideals” became even more noticeable when the OnePlus 10R sub-flagship was deprived of the proprietary mode switch. It was possible to forgive such a step in budget models for reasons of economy, but not installing it in the sub-flagship OnePlus 10R / Ace caused a stream of criticism from the company's fans. The president of the Chinese division of OnePlus Li Jie undertook to explain this move.
On his Weibo page, he published a post where he stated that the rejection of the proprietary switch was by no means an attempt by the company to save money. The OnePlus 10R/Ace was driven by the desire to offer a balance between heat dissipation and call quality. According to him, installing a switch would lead to a shortage of space, which is so necessary in order to improve the performance of antennas and the liquid cooling system.
The explanations of the top manager of OnePlus look at least strange and unconvincing against the backdrop of complaints from OnePlus Ace owners about overheating of the smartphone. In fact, it turns out that they did not provide effective heat removal and at the same time deprived the device of a branded chip, which was just “amputated” in order to ensure normal temperature conditions. It has already become fashionable that manufacturers attribute everything to a lack of internal space. At the same time, they manage to make the cases thinner and find a place for useless sensors in the main camera.
