On September 15, Xiaomi hosted another presentation, during which they showed the 11T line of junior flagships and the Pad 5 tablet. Of course, we could not miss this event. Each novelty has been carefully studied and tested. The hero of this particular review is XiaoMi 11T - a basic and mid-range smartphone from the presented line. Sit back and keep reading to find out everything about the presented phone. We promise - it won't be boring, because the model turned out to be quite controversial and we definitely have something to discuss.

According to the characteristics of Xiaomi 11T, everything is fine. The processor from MediaTek pleases, because there will be no such wild heating as with the Dragon. The camera should also be flagship, judging by the parameters. Another interesting thing is a fast charge of 67 watts, which promises to fully power the battery in 36 minutes. Let's figure out if the new smartphone is so good.

There is nothing interesting in the package. It is the same as other phones from Xiaomi. Buyers get the mobile device itself, a USB Type-C cable, a silicone case, and a 67W power supply. The box is also the most common: white, with a large number 11 in the middle. In general, everything is standard and familiar. We move on.

Design and dimensions

Xiaomi 11T is absolutely no different from the PRO version in appearance. The design is minimalistic, with a small front camera module in the center. The back cover is completely made of glass, but the frames are aluminum. This is quite an expected picture, because manufacturers will not equip a smartphone worth 400 bucks with a plastic case. The color schemes are simple but stylish - gray (as if with slight wear), white and light blue. In a word, a classic.

Dimensions are 164.1x76.9x8.8 mm with a weight of 203 grams. Xiaomi 11T is slightly thicker than Poco F3 . This is most likely due to the fast charging technology, because it takes up enough space under the case. There is still no audio jack, and this is immediately a fat minus. It’s clear that TWS headsets are a real trend in 2021, but no one has yet canceled the good old wired headphones. The adapter was not included in the kit, so you have to buy it separately (if you need it, of course). What else is missing in 11T? That's right, a slot for a memory card. Especially considering that the maximum amount of internal storage is only 256 GB. A 512 GB version would certainly not hurt. The fingerprint scanner is on the side. And convenient, and not as expensive as under-screen technology. Although much more expensive, because the price of Xiaomi 11T has already been turned down .... But more on that later.

Xiaomi 11T display is good quality. Again, it is no different from the 11T Pro and Poco F3. Here we have an AMOLED matrix with Full HD + resolution. The screen diagonal is 6.67 inches. The display takes up 85.1% of the entire front panel. Additional goodies include support for HDR10 + mode. The screen refreshes at 120Hz, which was to be expected. Xiaomi 11T is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus tempered glass. According to the manufacturer, this glass is able to protect the phone from all mechanical damage. Of course, this statement is exaggerated, so we recommend that you handle the device with care. First of all, because of the glass case. By the way, the 11T uses the IP53 standard, which provides protection against splashes and dust.

Let's go back to the screen. Using a smartphone outdoors is comfortable thanks to a peak brightness of 1000 nits. The color rendition is more or less correct, there are no complaints about the viewing angles. Although the smartphone is equipped with an amoled, the PWM level is within the normal range. You can verify this by looking at the parameters below. First comes the brightness level, then the PWM.

  • 100% - 9%
  • 75% - 9%
  • 50% - 10%
  • 25% - 10%
  • 15% - 11%
  • 5% - 29%
  • 0% - 11%

If you don’t know how PWM works and what it is in general, we invite you to a separate article , where everything is described in the most detailed and understandable way. In short: the lower the brightness of the display, the higher the PWM level. And the higher the PWM, the more you will feel discomfort. For many people, the eyes hurt even with a pulsation of 20%.

Performance and stability

Slowly but surely we are getting closer to the “stuffing” of Xiaomi 11T. We are met by a processor from MediaTek - Dimensity 1200 5G. It's a flagship chip that should really shine in games. Our team has tested the novelty in demanding toys such as Shadowgun Legends and Genshin Impact. In the first game, we get 60 FPS - an excellent result, because there were practically no subsidence and the number of frames was kept at the same level. In Genshin, the rate dropped to a stable 41 FPS, which is also not bad. In terms of heating, everything is less rosy: the case periodically heated up to 50 ° C. But, you must admit that it is still better than the flagship Snapdragon processors, which turn into a red-hot stove during an active game.

The work of MIUI 12.5 also left a pleasant impression in general. 11T works smoothly, without serious freezes and lags. There were occasional hiccups, but they can be dealt with. After all, we all know that Xiaomi smartphones are far from stable operation, especially at the start of sales.

Many of you probably want to know how the proximity sensor works. Especially after the "scoop" news that the 11T line is completely rid of sensor problems thanks to AI Virtual Smart Sensor TM technology. I don’t know what special technology is used there, but in practice, miracles did not happen. The Xiaomi 11T's proximity sensor is still buggy. Not as much as Redmi Note 10 Pro, Poco F3 and Mi 11i, which is already progress for Xiaomi. But if you were expecting super accurate proximity sensor responses, we are in a hurry to disappoint you.

Let's discard the technical parameters and immediately tell you how Xiaomi 11T photographs in reality. To make it clearer to you, we will compare everything with the same Poco F3. So, in light conditions, smartphones handle almost the same. The 11T wins only in terms of macro lens and ultra-wide detail. During night shooting, the novelty also does not particularly stand out. Moreover, she visibly blushes compared to Poco. Selfie detail is better on the Poco F3, while the 11T boasts more accurate color reproduction.

Xiaomi 11T records videos in maximum quality 4K@30fps. The rival is only 1080p. But there is no significant difference, except that 11T has better noise reduction when recording video. In general, the novelty even disappointed with its camera. Given that the main module is 108 MP, we expected a complete victory over the Poco F3, which has only 48 MP. So does it make sense to overpay for a camera that is only better on paper? Big question. Finally, let's throw one more stone into the garden of new items - there is no optical stabilization.

We will not dwell on this point for a long time, since there is nothing new here. Xiaomi 11T received Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, infrared port and 5G support. The network catches perfectly. For stereo speakers, I want to put a separate plus, because the sound is really cool. The vibrator is not bad, the same as Poco F3.

Battery and runtime

Xiaomi 11T is equipped with a 5000 mAh battery. The energy efficiency of the processor plays a huge role. In our test, the smartphone lasted as much as 10 hours. This is an excellent result when compared to the Pro version, which has a battery life of only 8+ hours. There are no questions about 67-watt charging: it really charges the phone from 0% to 100% in 36-40 minutes. Let's hope that such a fast charge does not ruin the battery.

And here a significant minus of Xiaomi 11T is revealed - a very high price. During the 09/23 sale, the base 8/126GB version was $399 (including promo code and coupon), the 256GB version was $50 more. After the sale, the price will increase by $100. Total we get $500 (8/126 GB) and $549 (8/256 GB).

Xiaomi really tried and released quite a good smartphone. If its price did not exceed 400 bucks, it would definitely be a bestseller. But giving away $500 is too much, because the Poco F3, which is about the same level as the 11T in all respects, costs, for a minute, a little more than $300. To justify the novelty, it is worth saying that, according to the manufacturer's promises, it will receive new versions of Android for three years and security patches for four years. We are sure that for many this is very important, and they are ready to overpay. Otherwise, Xiaomi 11T is no better than its competitors.

Pros :

  • Energy efficient processor.
  • Good performance in games.
  • Cool stereo speakers.
  • Fast charging at 67W.
  • Long battery life.
  • Attractive glass body.
  • Low PWM.
  • Promised support for 3-4 years.

Cons :

  • The camera didn't live up to expectations.
  • Overcharge.
  • Heating in games, although not strong.
